The uninspired youth

Usually when I enter the running ground near my house I see people entering with me to start their exercise or leave the ground after their exercise. But one day I saw an unusual sight. The ground staff of the ground was trying to kick out a hungover boy. A small conversation went on as follows:

staff: get out of the ground.
boy: sir, please let me in. This will be the last time.
staff (to another staff): This boy does this everyday. He boozes in the night and comes to the ground in the morning, he never goes home. (To boy) Go home, or else I'll tell your father what you've been doing.

Finally the boy was kicked out of the ground. He was probably a student of Madras Institute of Technology since only their students get free access to the ground I went to. He looked like an intelligent student but he was a bit fat (probably gained weight to excessive boozing) and had a big beard.

This guy would have started this excessive boozing because he hasn't found any other activity in life more inspiring. This is a small instance of a large problem in India: the talent of the youth is not being tapped well enough. There aren't enough people to inspire the youth to focus their energy on activities that they will enjoy, as well as create positive change.

This responsibility should be taken by anyone a youth looks to for advice: parents, seniors, faculty, friends. But instead these people are looked down upon by the same people mentioned as bad people who will never change and that interacting with them will make them look bad in society. This mindset has to change. Everyone has some bad habit. Its just that some of them are more publicly proclaimed as bad habits and others are not.

However as people are becoming more open minded these days things are changing. This issue is open to discussion.
